General Dentistry

Keeping up with your family’s routine dental needs, such as exams and teeth cleanings every six months, has many benefits. Most importantly, of course, is that you can help your family enjoy the gift of healthy teeth and gums and a lifetime of healthy smiles.

You also benefit because preventive dentistry allows Dr. Jiyung Kang to monitor your oral health regularly. If he finds the beginning of a cavity or gum disease, he can take steps to address it right away. It is always easier on your family and your budget to nip problems in the bud rather than waiting for them to worsen.

Comprehensive General Dentistry

As a general dentist in Eugene, Dr. Kang likes taking the time to get to know his patients. The best way to provide personalized care is by understanding your priorities and all the factors that guide your treatment decisions.

When you see us for your six-month checkups, we’ll review your oral health and recommend treatment if needed. If you get a cavity, develop gum disease, or have missing teeth, we offer comprehensive dentistry to meet all those needs.

Your six-month hygiene appointments clean all the harmful plaque and tartar from your teeth and allow us to check for signs of gum disease. If necessary, we can plan periodontal treatment, including deep cleanings for advanced gum disease.

In addition to routine dental checkups and teeth cleaning, general dentistry at our Eugene dental office includes:

  • Digital x-rays as needed
  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Dental crowns
  • Dental bridges
  • Emergency dentistry
  • Full and partial dentures
  • Root canals
  • Tooth extractions

Tooth Replacement with Dental Implants

If you need to replace missing teeth, Dr. Kang offers full dental implant services, including placement. With his skill and expertise in this area, he can place your implant surgically and restore it with a beautiful crown, bridge, or denture that restores function.

We also want you to love your healthy smile, so we are pleased to offer a full range of cosmetic dental treatments to ensure that your smile is as beautiful as it is healthy.

How We Use Technology

It’s the personal touches that make the difference in dentistry, but leading-edge technology plays a part in improving the comfort and efficiency of your visits. During your examinations, Dr. Kang uses intraoral cameras to show you a detailed, close-up view of your teeth.

Our digital x-rays emit up to 80 percent less radiation, allow us to diagnose problems accurately, and show you why our dentist in Eugene recommends treatment. Using 3-D cone beam imaging, Dr. Kang plans procedures like dental implant placement, root canals, and extractions.

Digital X-Rays

Digital dental x-rays expose our patients to about 80 percent less radiation than film x-rays do. They are also more comfortable for you because we’ve done away with the bulky film clips that you had to hold between your teeth. Instead, we use flat sensors with rounded corners that fit in your mouth comfortably and capture the digital image.

We care about your safety, and Dr. Kang never takes unnecessary x-rays. He bases the frequency of yours on your current and past oral health needs. Average patients typically require yearly bitewing x-rays; those with excellent oral health and no signs of cavities or gum disease may only need them every 18 months to 2 years.

We always review your x-rays with you so you can see for yourself what's happening with your oral health and why we recommend treatment. We save all your x-rays to your digital patient record, so they are always easy to access when needed for reference or to monitor certain conditions. Because your x-rays are stored digitally, we can share them easily with your insurance company or with specialists as needed.
